Building Trust in AI Decisions: The Approval Gate Pattern

Users don't trust AI that acts without asking. Here's how we designed Mondian to be powerful but safe.

The #1 concern I hear from retailers evaluating AI tools: "What if it does something wrong?" It's a valid fear. An agent that updates prices, sends emails, or places orders has real consequences if it makes a mistake.

The Approval Gate

Mondian's design principle is simple: the agent can analyze anything, but it must ask before acting. Every external action — sending an email, updating a price, posting to Slack — goes through a confirmation gate.

The agent shows you exactly what it wants to do: "Update 12 prices on Shopify to match competitor drops." You approve or reject. There's no way to bypass this.

Building Trust Over Time

In practice, most users approve 95%+ of recommendations after the first week. They learn that the agent's judgment is good. But the approval gate remains — because the 5% it catches prevents costly mistakes.

Trust in AI isn't about removing human oversight. It's about making oversight effortless.
